A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by stefan beutler

the sky speaks to me in whispers tonight

as if there is an urgent message i must hear

the stars cast a spotlight on once darkened shadows

illuminating footprints of those now gone

the moon is an amulet for me to wear

and the scent of promise is still in the air

but no one seems to notice anymore

the fractured fates played a cruel joke on me

such a double-edged sword

yes, i hear the moon's message

i would not have known what to yearn for

if i had never known you

The message of the moon spoken in whispers midst the depth of night inspires one to acknowledge that which is important in life, to remember those who have left their mark on our souls, to yearn yet for those who have stirred the very essence of our being! I feel this in your words, and the remarkable image you have chosen. I could get lost in her thoughts, her desires, her wanting to be in another place!

we seem so much closer to lost ones at night for some reason, maybe the sky and eternity appear to be closer to the touch.
I like the optimism of your words as the light of the stars lighten your heart.

Those whispers of things in the lost and found. Always hanging close to us. I liked the personal feel of the words. Thank you Lydia for sharing the amazing poetry.

Very soulful poem. The writer has a yearning, a longing for either a memory of the one she loves, or the one she loves, or she can't decide which. I loves how she feels the sky talking to her in its different forms. She is very earthy.

Thanks so much for the review, Christopher. Lydi**
This is awesome! So intensely vivid & gently-stated at the same time. The first two lines really draw me into you message & I love the way you crafted this sense of urgency. Likewise, the last two lines wraps up your observations with such a thought-provoking ending. Love it! (((HUGS)))

Can I say Lydia that I have walked on the moon with you, listened to whispers and felt the loveliness of your soft hand.

This is so deliciously beautiful Lydi, with a little poignant reflection of yesterdays and yesterdays self thrown in for good measure too.
Really love the line of the illuminating footprints of those now gone: that line really reverberates. Such a softly spoken piece that I don't want to click submit review, for fear of breaking the spell of your words. :)
