Flowing Currency

Flowing Currency

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by Vidan

In my laborious shuffle through life

I found you

or perhaps you found me

both of us fish caught in a net of need

you read my coded messages

better than I can write them

sing my song louder than I ever will

and when darkness threatens

to shadow my world

you pay the piper with the flowing currency of love

"net of need" ...I love alliteration as you know and this tickles it as well as the imagination. I love coming to your page because your spirit dances so elegantly along the pages. It is soft and welcoming like a big hug. This one is sweet and reminds me of a mermaid fairytale.

I like how you did this. I admire people who can write free verse this well; it's not my strong suit. I think rhyming is hardwired into my brain.

I do rhyme occasionally, but I much prefer free verse...hey, it's all poetry. Thanks for the review.. read more
You describe the kind of companion I've always longed for & I've enjoyed for a few different stretches of time. But I've never had a longterm experience like this, so thank you for helping me see & feel how it can be! *smile* (((HUGS)))
