ummmm... I loved that music and in a way i was singing it two years ago... and suddenly I thought to myself: Uau! I got to 64 and i don't need no one to feed me! Isn't it a victory?!!! And also to be free to be myself as i like it because, in reality no one "needs" me!!!
Lovely poem!
Sorry I haven't been on this website in a few months & I've missed reading you! This one sent me on a plastic fantastic mind-reeling reverie! I'd almost forgotten this song & now suddenly I'm realizing how close I'm coming to 64 (turning 61 in July) already -- when? how? Why did that happen? I feel this incredulousness all thru your poem, exactly as it feels inside my head & my life. Remember when we would never trust anyone over 30? Remember how we never thought we'd make it to 30? (With our rock icons dying at age 27 . . . ) I love the beginning, where you paint this memory with such excellent & recognizable details. And the ending is superb becuz, of course, those were all of our favorite lines in this song & we hear the melody as we read your lines! This was a pleasantly mind-blowing experience, thank you very much! (((HUGS)))

My favorites are all the oldies but goodies at the cafe!
Long past 64 now. The hair is gone and the only time I'm out 'til a quarter to three is to get up to go to the bathroom. Still, to paraphrase Mary Hopkins, 'those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end.'
Well done, Lydi, well done.

Happy Birth Day Lydi!! Sorry to be wishing you this late.
So sweet of you to be sharing this beautiful craft. 64 is just a number. And I am sure it will add more magic to your magical crafts.

Well i'm older but I'm thankfully not loosing my hair. It is almost white however. Its amazing; pulling an all nighter now means I stay in bed all night. Which doesn't happen very often.
This is amazing. But then what you and John and Paul write so eloquently about is merely a number. I just wish I could remember what number it was.
Two things go when you get to my age.... the first thing is your memory and I can't remember what the second thing is.
Lovely, sweet poem Lydi. And very happy biffday.
oh wow, do i relate to this...a couple years ago i had this birthday...and that is all i sang over and over..."will you still need me, when i'm 64"
I called it my Beatles Birthday!
this one made me dance again.

Ha, nice one Lydi. I think it was early 80's I heard that song for the first time and thought, or possibly said out loud to anyone who had ears "No way I wanna live that long." Now I'm nearer 64 than the 80's and I think to myself, or say out loud to anyone who has ears "ah, the arrogance of youth." We all thought age was something everyone else who wasn't inside our head had to worry about. Now my only worry is "Will I even reach 64." :)

need you feed you truly deeply madly... and the final jeopardy answer is "who is the walrus (John)?" well Lydi, for sure your life continues to be a "magical mystery tour" and you are still being winked at by the man in the moon and by me when he is not around... er... so with lots of fanfare ((((((((HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYDI))))))

Happy Birthday Lydi. :)
Your poem is so fun and playful.
Keep finding those 'too close for teenager' moments.
To me you will always be the fun, sassy, sweet Lydi that has charmed so many with her poetry and good nature. Timeless and ageless. xx
