A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

poetry gets me through every situation in life

"

artwork by garmash

you see my smile

the embellished privacy curtain for my soul

but i hide the seeds of broken promises

uncomfortably lodged between my teeth

sure, i floss with open ended speculations

and rinse with rosy tinged insinuations

but i’m still over here hitting the space bar

between ennui and joi de vivre

so i read a while and suddenly

in a diverse instant the significance hits me

an epiphany!

your ginger scented syntax

is my Ahow to stay happy@ manual

my star in the firmament

so with sincere gratitude

i thank you!

It is for words such as these that we stumble in our reviews. Your use of language and the ease of their flow is perfect, natural and elegance defined.
There are no words that do your words justice, so I'll make one up...Lydi, the wonderful worderator :)

Elegantly written. A smile and a thank you says it all. Poetry really does help to get through tough and sad moments in life.

Thanks so much for your review, Shabeeh. Lydi**
Whatever life throws, a smile creates not only a protective curtain but, a comfy blanket too. As ever you write with literary elegance and intelligence, Lydi, Think you were born with a metaphorical silver spoon in your mouth!

Thank you so much, Emma. Lydi**
Hello Lydia,
Whenever I feel sad, I usually sit in my room, play some soothing piano music, and read some of my favorite poems. That being said, I could easily relate to this piece and I felt your descriptions were perfect in describing such an instance.
I really loved your creative metaphors. The "lodged between my teeth" image had to be my favorite. I also like how you build on that image with the "floss" and "rinse" analogies made in the following lines. To top it off, the final lines and the visual presentation add a nice feel to the poem. Well done.

Smiling here...thanks, Paul. Lydi**
A choice use of metaphors Lydi. It takes you to come up with some of those. Dental= romance. Not something every one would have used. Or as well
