come with me

come with me

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork courtesy of pinterest

come with me

watch as peppermint thoughts turn to licorice

smile as i scavenge

salvaging what is left of this day

it’s true, you know

flowers in the vase of life

need more than rain to stay vibrant

perhaps a troupe of clowns engaging in festivities

‘neath a coterie of stars?

no?  what can I say?

we all need a kinder place to run to

come with me

climb up to the tippy top of the rainbow

where we can peacefully sleep on fluffy clouds

then, tomorrow morning

taste the sauna samba sunrise with me

the sort seen only once every forever

listen carefully to hear butterfly wings

play a lustful jazzy tune

this pulse of passion morning can mutate into night

we’ll touch…consumed by desire

share my multicolored need

sighs will slip and slide till we gloriously yield

come with me

So delightful & full of sensuous playful enchantment! The way life is tough for so many these days, I also find myself wanting an escape which I get thru poetry, both reading & writing. This poem inspires me even more to find such magical places where we can carve out a moment's hideaway. Every single word is so fresh & original, the things I love most in writing! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

All of us need a lustful jazzy tune. Thank you Lydia for sharing the amazing poetry.

I agree dear Lydia. Need many lustful jazzy days and you are welcome.
Powerful imagery and feelings to go with it! I enjoyed your manner of speaking/writing. The ending was so powerful, after all the beauty and amazement limned you just say, "come with me." Great write. Tyfs!

You're most welcome, Lydi.
First of all, I'd die to have a dress and hat like that! ...and the hair length wouldn't be bad, either!

You saute, and slip and slid and samba like nobody's business, Lydi! Your poetry requires a new classification on here...I'm going with "saucy"!

Julie, you are the best! Thanks so much. Lydi**
You really are a fine marriage broker! You're able to marry all manner of emotions and have them sing over the clamour of so-called amorous goings-on.

As to the way you set great phrases and make language your very own tool, ' .. come with me ~
watch as peppermint thoughts turn to licorice ~
smile as i scavenge ~ salvaging what is left of this day .. '

You thrill, you inspire, you always please, thank you so much, Lydi..

Superb writing as always Lydi. Why you aren't a world renowned poet, flying from book signing to award shows I will never know.

This piece has an innocence and yet the enticement of a sensual knowing woman. A heady combination indeed as you urge ultimate eruption.

Indeed...........................................................
hell yea, bags packed and everything.. I want to climb that rainbow, wan to see peppermint turn to licorice... Lydi you know all the good spots, all the jazzy spots and I will always follow you into "sauna samba sunrises" and here I thought you only wrote "nice" poetry, but this poem is this and even more, it's a "brilliantly nice" poem... all colorful and with butterfly wings and fluffy clouds... sigh, you had me at "come"... lol.. ;0)

There is a beautifully silken sibilance at work here, one that draws you in to a delightful place of whimsical imagination. This would certainly be 'a kinder place to run to'.
I like it Lydi...good write
