Without the Music

Without the Music

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

Just remembering.....

"

Artwork by Ziad Jundi

It was a music infused time spiced with a lack of decorum

Do you remember?

Like a sommelier pours the finest wine

you poured free flowing melodies into my cupped palms

Words suckled from the curl of your ardent lips

would sustain me for more days than I care to recall

Libidinous notes romped on the bridge of your guitar

stonewalling till they felt it was suitable to dive

onto your waiting fingers

Some said you were yin and I was yang

indeed the fine line

separating the words from the music often blurred

Tonight, mon amour, I was the one who remembered

Qui, mais les mots ne signifient rien sans la musique.

Yes, but the words mean nothing without the music

Lydia,
"without the music" Harmony exists or does not. Relation-ally people seek this as you said" ying and yang"
To be able to rest in peace with another is something to be treasure and nurtured. I read your poem and found myself realyy looking inside of myself. Thank you for this one...............great poem! Blessings Kathy

This felt like a love affair encapsulated in the rules of a song where the choice was made to disobey without regard for consequence.

If one can weave the spiritual magic of soul (music) to the magical breath of the listener we have a writer of impeccable order.

You always amaze my heart and soul Lydia!

Al

I had a lover once that played the sax...I still miss laying there while he played for me...making my skin tingle and my soul stir. We too were the yin/yang of it all and slipped away silently from each other, but today reading your poem I can hear him play. Ty! It's brillant!

Like a kiss without love...

You have captured a deepening thought. Lot's of room for meaning. Stirring and romantic with a touch of disappointment. Such is the great human experience.

Yes, but the words mean nothing without the music so true. Life is hard to imagine without the touch of music. Music soothes us in many ways. Great work Lydi**

Oh my, I am swooning at just the thought of the passion and romance that provided the words for the singers and notes for the instruments that created this symphony of longing.....the times when yin and yang were as one make this recollection literally vibrate with applause for "more, more, more!"
And the image is perfect as the face of the musician is obscure; words without the music.

Though it takes two to tango, those melliferous melodies still make salubrious sustenance that resonate forever!

A reflective, rhetorical pièce de résistance Lydia !
