inaudible hum

inaudible hum

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

poetry saves the day

confronting seditious stress

(forcing it to have an out of my body experience)

my tongue traces the shores of imagination

its only barrier the softly contoured perimeters of my mind

burgeoning images dangle before my eyes

            expanding

                        curving

                                    falling into one another

elliptical filaments of silk ‘neath a sensual rainstorm

slowly logic loses its grip

i breathe in the gentle perfume of pure poetry

insurgent stress runs off to a faraway realm

then turns to watch as i glide

on a nearly inaudible hum of passion

kissing my naked soul

Funny how reading poetry affects many of us. Yet in so many different ways we will explain the same passage. Valentine

i breathe in the gentle perfume of pure poetry, on a nearly inaudible hum of passion -- I see the passion in your words and thrust in your soul for writing poems. You're genius Lydi** with all your words :)

Thanks so much, Andrew. Lydi**
Wow, this is indescribable, followed closely by phenomenal! I love everything about it...especially reading it out loud, over and over again.

I think perhaps you've outdone yourself, Lydi...if that, "in a faraway realm", is possible!

My best,
Kelly

Lydia, are you sure you're breathing in this poetry. Quite like the idea of sensual poetry being read to me. Like your poem a lot.

Reading poetry is indeed a relaxing pastime. From Shakespeare's sublime sonnets to Bukowski's hard-edged realism, I love reading poetry. Your poems are good to read too, Lydia. This is a fine specimen!
