Have You?

Have You?

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Have you felt the weight of a falling leaf
as it drifts through the wind without a care?

Have dandelions morphed to roses in your gaze

as the wind’s footsteps quicken?

Have you ever been lost
in the silence of peaceful meditation?

Have you given yourself the freedom to change

as you moved obstacles from your path?

Then I promise you this….
unrestrained by the cruelty of time
someday we’ll meet upon a distant star

This is such a light-hearted poem that carries so much depth in its simplictiy. I loved it. It shows how we are all connected to one another through nature in a sort of weird (not in a bad way), ethereal type way. I liked the imagery in the rhetorical questions in this; it really made me wonder about life's beauty while still experiencing the blissfulness conveyed in the poem. Well done.

Yes, William, we all are connected. If only people realized that. Thank you for the review. Lydi*.. read more
one of my favorites from you, Lydi..

we can meet upon a distant star, if you have done any of these things...can we have the courage to change and compromise?

not much of that in the world right now...but it could happen, and needs to happen...

Honest and strong thoughts.
"Have you given yourself the freedom to change

The above lines I liked the most. Left a lot for the reader to think about. Thank you Lydia for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome Lydia.
dear Lydi, your poem touches upon the
years as leaves fall and become a bit
heavier to bear, however our hearts
can still be carefree. We see dandelions
as roses and we become lost in the serenity
of water lillies in Monet's paintings.
I adore the promise of meeting upon
a distant star. Your art reminds us of
the vastness of the universe where our
loved ones wait for the pleasure of our
compny. truly, Pat

So pleased you liked my poem, Pat. Thanks for the review. Lydi**
This is beautiful, and also very enlightening. It gives the reader a glimpse of being in that transcendental state. A place within, where we find clarity and a deeper understanding. About ourselves and the world around us through meditation. A realm of unbounded bliss. We are all one with the universe. Once we see with our heart. Lovely piece and imagery.

Indeed, we are all one. Beautifully said. Thank you for your review. Lydi**
and I see that star, right there, faint, near the top and slightly off the middle.. I'll be there the Twelfth never... until then I will be floating on that leaf and watching dandelions soar as roses and making wishes on their fluffy mysteries...

out here Lydi time isn't cruel, it just seems to pass nonchalantly into oblivion... it's "peaceful", and calmly "nice"... yes it is "whimsical" as Ana says, and has a twist of anticipation thrown in... as we use to say back in the day, far out Lydi, far out!!! ;0)

yes! i had forgot about the Black Light!! :)
The weight of a falling leaf can only be felt by a heart that has loved and felt its warmth, and dandelions morph to roses when you have a compassionate heart.
Only when you have loved then you can truly be lost in the silence of peaceful meditation.
I have a feeling that one day I will meet this wonderful poet upon a distant star.

Lydi, this poem is magic. It felt lovely and whimsical until that very last verse that jumped into my heart and put a lump in my throat. Someday we'll meet upon a distant star... And as I read those I thought of someone I hope to meet again. On a star. Thank you.
