i whisper your name to the raindrops
(an escape of desire leaking through quivering lips)
they answer (a tin whistle on a tool shed’s
roof) in the ambiance of the white neon moon
i peer through a window
to see things both there and here
you reach for me
(a clever bit of time travel)
the intense longing chains me to the very moment
we first touched
gloriously the needle is stuck the record skips repeating passionate lines i’d
virtually forgotten
perhaps you scoff
but it’s all true
in the buoyant reflections seen and heard tonight
from the hammock of my dreams
i think this is so beautiful ..love the hammock ...love the dreaming ..and the raindrops .. spoken into ..and the quivering ..just so creative ..i automatically transfer the quivering to those raindrops in my mind ..waiting to burst ... and how we do re-play things over and over ..what better place than that hammock ..love this .. well done Lydia!

So beautiful, romantic and filled with the kind of love one can only hope for in this lifetime...and I know you have been blessed in that respect! You write of it so well Lydi, capturing all that is felt in a deeply committed love relationship.

Sharon, I always appreciate your lovely reviews. Thank you. Lydi**
This is so very beautiful, Lydi. Your words seem to rise and fall with the sway of the hammock itself creating a nostalgic, romantic mood that all who have loved and perhaps lost can relate to so well.
You bring the real and surreal so magically together in your poem. what better place than a hammock of dreams and your poetry to get whisked away! i always love the ambiance and mood you create with your words. Heavy sigh!
I feel this.
Not in a romantic sense, I think it's written that way though.
I just miss someone very much that's not here anymore and there are moments of reflection, and also wondering what if they were here, what would be said or done, would there be laughs, tears.
Remembering can peaceful and sometimes painful. This one here seems peaceful to me.
Comforting even.

The raindrops and the moon, the present and the past, the memories and the moments......all have dissolved so wonderfully in this poem of love and passion.
O how wonderful is this hammock of your dreams.
