buttonholes

buttonholes

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by michael garmash

there really were button holes

strategically sewn into place

keeping my reputation in tact

that and lacy garters

atop black silk stockings

i swore would never come off

        but you smiled

or maybe it was your laugh

point is, i suddenly didn't care

there were button holes

....beautiful poem with a balance of moral and laughter....reminds me of my straight up do it all God's way principle l had back in the days.l never gave a thought l could fall sometime.....and l did,the buttons were all let loose.Save for His mercy, did l only sew back the buttons right there on my silky shirt.I think in the seriousness of how life we think should be,we mustn't rule out our fallibility . It's okay if we make mistakes as long as we take to heart, lessons learnt to avoid being hurt again.

l just love the lyric, literal and moral illustration.

This was fun Lydia. The shy conservative girl with a rebellious wild desire that she kept hidden.

vulnerability combined with smiles and laughter...

This is great -- I loved Jacob's poem, and now yours too. Makes me think I should write one of my own. Hmmmmm. We could start a whole closet.:)

I am going to read it now!
Jacob and his "turtlenecks" can inspire many things and it seems "buttonholes" is one of them...

buttons and buttonholes never bothered me back then and it wasn't garters and black silk stockings but red fish nets... as for the buttonholes, there I was all innocent when she pulled me close, ran her fingers in my hair and no button hole would stop such a wonderful invitation... did I smile.. absolutely!! er.. but but... she started it with a kiss, I was just all innocent remember... ;0) Okay Lydi you can stop laughing now... you too Jacob.. innocent I tell you...

Lydi I love how you responded to Jacob's poem you have a wonderful free spirit style that reflects in everything and it is refreshingly "nice".. the poem too...

I appreciate your review. Lydi**
ah that reckless abandon of youth---

"Bless me Father for i Have....oh hell, just let her rip"

very sexy write...we want to be good---but then those buttons are only sewn into the fabric slightly---

they aren't that strong...neither are morals when we are that age.
