what is so rare?

what is so rare?

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

ah, the atmosphere of June
her gauze skirt sways to the music of summer
blonde curls are collected and controlled
in a covered rubber band
while dissident wisps escape to dance with beads of sweat on warm necks
rolled up sleeves kiss tanned muscular arms
certainly shoes are not part of the dress code now
wisps of sun lightened chest hair peek out
from the third undone button on his shirt
responsibilities take a detour to swim in a tall glass of lemonade
take a deep breath - - relax
because, after all, what is so rare as a day in June?

This is like a lesson in poetry..oh not just poetry...this is a lesson in summer. this is how summer should be. each moment lazy, laidback. and full of romance. I love reading poems in third person like this, there's something so dreamy and magical about it. this is June at its best!

Love the sweet relaxed tone of the poem, the capturing of the sensual in an innocent walk on the beach with breezes touching skin, and another's touch mixed in. Lovely poem.

I've tried to friend you a couple times, but it says a friend request has already been sent, and then there's nothing there. Any ideas? I wanted to send you a read request of 2 miracles, 22 years - it is a reminiscence of a time I think you can relate to. Let me know if we can find a way to friend each other.

Thanks!

Thank you, KL Lydi**
Your words speak so tenderly, so beautifully of the month, this warming, living season of the world. And how you make June come alive in the light and sensuality of these vibrant sighs.

Glad you enjoyed, Shadowine. Thanks for the review. Lydi**
You have created dreamy moments with these beautiful lines.
The reader can "live" the words that you have penned on a fine day in June.

dear Lydi, "What is so rare as a day in June"?
I feel as though Roger and I lived your poem
today. We were by the water sipping ice drinks.
With his off white Bernuda slacks and tropical
shirt unbuttoned, te breeze was inviting and
pleasing to my senses. My arms were kissed
by the sun as romance lingered. truly a sensual

June days, those days before the summer's heat arrives, those days where dreams float on the late spring breeze and stirs the "wisps" of hair and fantasies of barefoot care free days... lemonade and young love or love that has lasted forever hand in hand...

here in nyc, today is going to be such a carefree day and you have painted it well Lydi... heading out now to enjoy it sitting in my favorite park... a very "lemonadey nice" poem Lydi...
