Sylvia Plath's favorite word was "perhaps"....She never meant it as some delusional afterthought, nor
as conjecture but rather, as your using it, in poet time, to speed along the effortless courses of life
and to show that to live is the only inconsistent constant. Hard is hard, and soft things, if you wait long enough, will become hard also...
great inner poetry in this poem Lydia........Beautifully written.......dana

There's a certain kind of adorable calmness in your words, an acceptance of the things we cannot change and that we are exposed to a frequent alteration. Your words read sort of wise

You're welcome. I wouldn't have called it stoic, just a calm in a nice way.
A good, thoughtful poem. The first lines definitely set the tone to this poem. They make you think about the opportunities in life and how they can be so hard to find and can be difficult to ignore and, sometimes to accept. The rest also makes you think about the adversities in life and how it can be a rollercoaster. You'll have your good times, but sometimes the bad times will be the most memorable and common.
A very good piece, fellow writer.

Thank you so much, Tessa...yes, life is a mingling of the good and the bad. Lydi**
The opening lines of this poem, just set the tone for me. the ambiguity of self, the fleeting moment of happiness and the ever constantly changing world around and ourselves, tongue-tied life, running out of sugar in our lives to the handle on things doing away...So well captured !
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this piece.

Such a beautiful poem... no matter what we feel while going through loss or change, there is always a silver lining. One of my favorite sayings is, loss can be an elixour. love your poem. :)

Yes, there is always something good to hang on to...absolutely. Thank you, David. Lydi**
change is not easy...and one door closes so another may open...
i seem to be just to right of sad much of the time---yet i keep happy because life is too short to cry over spilled suger...
the only thing that stays the same is that things change.
quite metaphorical in this one...
really like it...

dear Lydia, a beautiful sunset will always be colored with
tragedy and heartbreak... a door open and lives ended...
