my sixth without you

my sixth without you

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

this week a full spectrum of emotions

insinuates itself on my horizon

i still have trouble thinking of you in the past tense

you were such a force in my life

my sound of music on silent days

my smile when the world was frowning

my vase of perfect tulips in turbulent times

and even when the universe was blistered

you always knew what to say

          what to do

to make it all okay again

but now mother's day is here - my sixth one without you

and i just want to disappear between these lines

wear their meaning till the fit is comfortable

then cleanse myself in a fountain of tears

while embracing one undeniable truth

the love you gave me continues to fuel my ever after

i miss you mommy

mother's day 2016

oh my! your poem breaks my heart ...what an enviable closeness "My sixth without you" emotes with your mother ...i have never read a tribute to moms so moving .. well done .. so honest and well written every single word ..wow! reminds me not only of my mom but my aunts i was close to, my childrens mom who passed when they were quite young ...and the times at church we all wanted to disappear as accolades were pronounced but nothing said about those lost to us ... i stopped taking my kids to church on mother's day because of that pain ... your loss is poignant .. well done says i! breaks my heart! :(

((((LYDI))))) you are your mother's daughter, full of love and life and caring... everyone who knows you see her in your eyes and words... as through her you became you...

it's a bitter sweet poem Lydi, one that allows us care and know about you both... holidays, special days bring out the pain of missing and longing, the hurt of not having them hug you or give you advise or even give you a good talking to when we get off track...

as you know my folks are still with me, but I think what I will miss the most about mom is her, "We worry about you Curt", your mom probably said something similar.... you know I could also hear her talking in your poem and how proud she was of your life, even as your were telling us how much you have missed her company... and how much you love her always..

Created by God from His immense love for you, she lives on in your heart forever. I am sure she looking upon you every moment and praying for you. A most touching tribute to the most selfless and noble love ever. The Heaven is graced by her gentle and beautiful presence. Appreciated so very much...

Thank you so much, Pat. Happy Mother's Day. Lydi**
A very touching and sad write. It seems so unreal when we refer to our parents in past tense.
It is a grief we will always feel.
My heart reaches out to you. I wish you the best.
