The Promise of Perhaps

The Promise of Perhaps

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

romantic fantasy

"

Artwork by Julia Pappas

A big ewer basks in the sun just over the hill

embracing eternity’s minutes

each morning it tips ever so carefully

pouring out precisely one thousand four hundred forty

specially selected segments of time

Memorable though each one may be

I drink in only the ones designed to sate my longing

          for your touch

                   your voice

                              your words

licking each drop from my lips

the promise of perhaps inflames my desire

Yes, my darling, I still wait for

that one succulent second

the one destined

to carry me back to your arms

It's a pleasure, reading your thoughts, encased in breathtaking poetry, Lydi.
really like this one...sensual longing...the drops, the sips of love...being carried back into the arms of desire, waiting...

listening for the voice...feeling for the touch.

Beautiful title, wishes and romantic designation. Perhaps can give us some hope in light of waiting for the right one or right moments. Loveliness spills from this poem...:)................
