All I Ask

All I Ask

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Artwork by Green Greenwald "Annabelle"

The gold lamé of life

is often stolen or imitated

The same can not be said of love

You can’t defraud me out of my honest emotions

My love is yours

I want to give it to you freely

so you may glide on it - -like figure skating on freshly zambonied ice

Don’t you see?

Aphrodisiacs do not fit in ribboned gift boxes

Moonstruck moans of passion are not found

on Track 2 of the newest CD

Champagne will not quench the thirst I carry in my heart

My love trembles in unwritten memoirs

but it is always meant for you

All I ask is for you to accept it

The feelings are priceless, no material comforts can be traded for those feelings. Nothing can replace the touch or the presence of a loved one, so ĺet love take its course. The second verse touched deep chords within me. The poem in itself is awesome. Much appreciated ❤

i felt a tinge of pain here, this is rejection where you love some one and that person never sees it or accepts it.

"The gold 'lament' of life"...
a beautiful tribute to love...
The smoothness of love gliding
on moonlight beams of ice...
I know that "Prince" the 'artist' would
love these lyrics. I can hear his gentle
voice in your poem. truly, Pat

As you have shown in this gentle poem, Lydi, there are many artificial "declarations" of love, which are stylised, anonymous , and therefore meaningless. A declaration from the heart can say more in three words , or, as you state, simply as a memory.

wow...honest love...can't buy it in a store, or on-line...there is no price for true affection...it is given freely, openly, no catch, no strings attach...no warranty needed...just as is, and runs forever like a great old car...that keeps renewing itself....

damn nice piece here.

"like a great old car"....indeed! Thank you very much for your lovely review, Jacob. Lydi**
Love cannot be replaced and love does not come with a price tag. I like the thought" I want to give it to you freely
so you may glide on it - -like figure skating on freshly zambonied ice"
A very apt conclusion: All I ask is for you to accept it
