Rainy Moon

Rainy Moon

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Neath the spotlight of the rainy moon
she reads her memoirs aloud to the stars
who are politically correct enough
not to mention they notice
she has rewritten history just a tad
moments mauled and molded to please
seconds shimmied to seduce
summers smiled through tears
still, some would consider her
a lyrical lovely tonight
dampened skirt swaying in the evening breeze
while living on the outskirts of life
wondering what will be tomorrow
wishing the window of world wisdom
was not quite so blurry these days

The first two lines sends one on a journey of flowery words. "Rainy moon" and "talking to the stars".
It becomes more bearable to try to remember history the way we want to rather than the way it was. A beautiful poem and the concluding lines are just as good.

somehow the stars seem to listen well-
I read this as a reminder of times that were more seductive
and the tears- maybe not so much anymore.
but some still see her beauty- the ones that are worth it.

i'm having trouble with the last lines- maybe its the dissonance of youth and real beauty- and these weren't so blurred.

I really enjoyed it- made me want to read my thoughts to the stars- to be heard- sway in a skirt and feel beautiful- no matter who realized my beauty or not.
Thanks.

Your words are touching but not whimsical, more of
wisdom and maybe a political leaning. What you say
true and beautifully weaved together, thumbs up
from me, paddy.

Thank you, dear Pat. I always appreciate your reviews. Lydi**
Oh wow this one is such a good read for so many reasons. Your writes always affect the senses and this one was no different, what amazing imagery invoked, as I would say credit goes to the vocabulary ^^ Amazing alliterations used through out the write. Does not sound forced at all ^^ I loved the message portrayed here. We tend to decorate the past or history the way we want to and not how it was. ^^ Thank you so much for sharing ^^

Exactly! Thank you very much, Errenn. I appreciate your review. Lydi**
Another of your amazingly sensually stated poems! . . . Only this time, it's more the words than the message that's coming across with much sensory artfulness. It feels a little less "flowing" thru the "politically correct" phrasing, altho this doesn't detract . . . just a contrasting jumping-off point for the following collection of sparkling alliteration & other dazzling word choices. I love the message that we all embellish history to our own liking. Very enjoyable read!

Quite the compliment! Thank you so much for the review. Lydi**
Lost is the single heart and the searching soul. As time goes by even memories get molded just enough. The window of world wisdom is not at all blurry in this marvelous piece. You have a lovely lyrical pen.

Lovely and lyrical.....I like those adjectives! Thank you so much, Bill. Lydi**
a poem full of faith and hope about the depth of man's existence - seeing and keeping the positive aspects of her life - with just a little worry about the world's fickleness and inconstancy

steph
