a minute

a minute

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

at the corner of fantasy and romance

"

artwork by anna Dittmann

nothing is larger than a minute
actually not just any minute
but the minute i saw you
and realized we shared the same space

i wanted to make some grand gesture
but feelings were frozen in place
allowing only the faintest of motions
the dreamiest of touches

in some alternate universe
there’s no doubt
my celestial hunger
would have been sated by you

outside the wedgewood sky winked
while i was cushioned by fluffy clouds
all because of a simple minute
                        c’est vrais
nothing is larger than a minute

There are certain times in our lives where time seems to stand still, frozen.. the romantic in me longs to think back on some of these moments.. I close my eyes and remember with such clarity each thought, each flutter of the butterflies in my tummy, each exaggerated beat of my heart and feel as if I am right there again. Sometimes, it is a what if day dream, wondering what would have happened if I had seized the moment, and other times it is just lavishing in the bliss that once was... just beautiful.

Friday evening has arrived for us to be mesmerized once again by exactly the dreamy kind of "minute" any of us may hope and wish for! When feelings are as this, that minute may become an eternity in one's memory! I absolutely am captivated by the thought of this happening in some alternate universe........the celestial bodies would have been thrown out of orbit, shooting stars ignited as bright as the lava of a volcano, the absence of air imploded by a monsoon - in other words, shattering! Can all that happen? LOL
Romantic, beautiful!!

Any minute with my beloved worth a decade or more of happiness with other things and people.
Your poem is so romantic just like your other writings which are all written with elegance.
The first verse is my favorite.
Great piece!

this is so touching, and touches memories...a relationship or two that seemed just minutes apart...yet enough that we were in different universes and couldn't quite reach to each other...

such great wording. imagery done with such clarity...

you're welcome,ma'am
"Wedgewood sky" I loved that and I wished I had thought of that. But it seems it would take a true romantic to pen that phrase which is why I am not surprised to find it here. Such a beautiful and heart touching poem. It only took a minute, that minute. Lovely Lydi.
