There’s a rhythm
to my thoughts tonight
as constant as ocean waves
and just as enveloping.
No cutting or clever words
will suit my mood
on this balmy sultry night - -
the sort of night
that soothes a woman
into believing in dreams
In those dreams
a magnificent
spectrum of conjoined colors
bursts forth
from the mundane of life
humming a susurrus
designed to lure
my fugitive brain cells
to Shangri-la
It is
in those dreams
that I smile
knowing I love you
not for who you are
or for what you do
but for who I am when
you wrap your arms
and thoughts around me
I love your message that the best friendships & loves are with those who bring out the best in us! You've expressed this with your usual richness of imagery & flowing word choices. I had to look up "susurrus" & it's the perfect rare word for this spot, humming with assonance. Always a pleasure to read you!

Beautiful and hopeful words.

The above lines can stand alone. Wishes and hope make the final place perfect. Thank you dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

What a lovely review, John. Thank you so much. LYdi**
yes, this is so important to a relationship...i wish i could say i experienced this more often than i did...that someone else made me really feel good about myself because they loved me enough to do that.
wonderful content in this poem...
that dreamy theme of being able to just roll with the waves of love.
Oh how majestic it is to have arms and thoughts as this wrapped 'bout one to send away the chill of day, the dark of night, the blues that may settle over one, even on the brightest of days! Your words always have a way of making me feel soothed........well, except those that make passion exude. Yep, you can do both!
Beautiful with an accompanying perfect image! I like the way the woman is rather obscure like the way one's mood can be until love can be embraced.

Ah, shangri-la, Lydia, that kinda rhymes
in it's own little way, purely accidental,
Anyway hope you find your shangri-la,
Enjoyed the read too, as always. ...

Smiling here...it does rhyme. thanks so much, Paddy. Lydi**
I find myself in a conundrum here, your poem was so beautiful that I didn't want it to end but the ending was so beautiful I was happy when I got there. Either way, I loved this poem and the ending took my breath away. You are a very talented and fantastic poet Lydia.
