carefully, in
a mood born of december
i follow a trail of crushed soda cans
to
an island in my stream of consciousness
i’m officially as blue as the clear sky above me
the slap of the sun on my cheek brings it all into focus
the pending parties
useless euphemisms
myriad of memories
suddenly, realizing i am the one writing this script
i grab a handful of smiles from my emergency shelf
wrap myself in bubble wrap
and vow to return smiling next
year
we are the main authors of our lives, the kind of season/mood in our minds can be created by us - to live better every coming year, full of love, hope and kindness - the bubble wrap sounds nice, a promise to be a source of happiness for others
It is as if my own feelings have somehow become the refill to your pen, though I am happy it is your pen and not mine because your writing style is magnificent. It feels as if the words are being spoken by a friend. This feels comfortable and inviting and is certainly uplifting. I very much enjoy your poetry. It feels real.

well Lydia...I guess I need to remind myself why I need to come back here and learn something darnit!! you are so articulate and at the same time express yourself with such beautiful flare. this was a true delight to read because there is a deep wisdom in your words that seems to be juxtaposed by a lightness and innocence. so beautiful.

This is just beautiful, wonderful writing Lydi! (i grab a handful of smiles from my emergency shelf wrap myself in bubble wrap and vow to return smiling next year) Bravissimo!! ~Sharon
"i’m officially as blue as the clear sky above me".
What a glorious poetic statement! I felt like I was going through my own thoughts and emotions while reading this. There is always something good coming, something far better than the things we leave behind. and sometimes, " a handful of smiles from my emergency shelf" is just enough to get by. I love this so much! Happy New Year my friend!

Very nice Lydia. Lots of emotions and memories flood our minds at this time of year and your solution for dealing with it above sounds good to me. Well done and thank you for sharing your beautiful words.
Thank you, Willard. I appreciate the time you took to review my words. Lydi**

I found the first few months here getting adjusted to the lay of the land so to speak and I found using read request, going or coming was not allowing me to read the people the read my work. Or works I prefer.
So I am sure I will be reading more of your work as you have been more than generous with your time and my words. Thank you again.

I like the want to be wrapped in bubble wrap. I hope you had a good Christmas and I wish you a safe and fun New Years.

The very same to you, John. Be well. Thank you for reviewing my words. Lydi**
another year all but gone and it is time to wrap ourselves in new bubble wrap to ease the problems encountered in a new year, the old bubble wrap has but one bubble left !!! you know of course Lydi, that your poems are part of what makes this bubble wrap work, right?!! guarding us from those crushed soda cans (I liked this metaphor).. so here are smiles, and miles of bubble wrap for you and definitely have a happy new year Lydi... and thanks for your new years wishes and a few smiles from that emergency shelf... ;0)

Lydi, you (as your profile almost says) translate poetry into magic. I only wish I could send you a lifetime of smiles at times like these.
