carefully, in
a mood born of december
i follow a trail of crushed soda cans
to
an island in my stream of consciousness
i’m officially as blue as the clear sky above me
the slap of the sun on my cheek brings it all into focus
the pending parties
useless euphemisms
myriad of memories
suddenly, realizing i am the one writing this script
i grab a handful of smiles from my emergency shelf
wrap myself in bubble wrap
and vow to return smiling next
year
we are the main authors of our lives, the kind of season/mood in our minds can be created by us - to live better every coming year, full of love, hope and kindness - the bubble wrap sounds nice, a promise to be a source of happiness for others

In case of emergency crack smile eh my friend. Your writing is light years ahead never mind next year.
(okay that line doesnt really work unless we both pretend I wrote it last year Lydia - whaddya say, will we pretend for old times sake?)
Happy 2016 my long-time friend.

dear Lydi, Like the Elf on the Shelf,
we wrap ourself in bubble wrap, and
dream of roses in the snow and spring breezes
that blow blossoms of love. Your poem has lingered
on my mind and given me comfort in sunsets of
melancholy and sunrises of hope. truly, Pat

As always, your reviews are poetic. You are a poetic soul, my friend. Thank you so much. Lydi**
I love the line...realising I am the one writing this script. Could you read my story Angst on some of the same, I'd love your opinion.

As we continue onwards along life's journey, the stresses and strains take their toll but we weather the storms and savour the good times when they come along, sound in the knowledge that by doing so, we are wiser and all the better for the experience !
Stellar and character building words Lydia, a classic indeed to see off the old and welcome in the new!
Happy New Year !!

Where can I get one of those "emergency shelves?"
A lovely, uplifting message easy to identify with.
Smartly done, Lydi!
Happy Next Trip Around the Sun! (Didn't want to be euphemistic.)
