A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

a poem written by me many years ago...still one of my favorites

"

artwork by juniper paintings courtesy of etsy.com

you  read me

with rose colored glasses

planted firmly on the tip of your nose

creating a new and improved version

of the script of me

you perused the pages

treasuring the dog eared artifacts

you found between the lines

and occasionally asked pertinent questions

about the cast of supporting characters

then one morning it happened

                           eureka!

there she stood in  my living room

the woman who never existed at all

                                            till you read me

You know when someone looks at you lovingly the way you have never viewed yourself as, that's when you truly know how deeply one cares for you. Lovely metaphors used throughout the poem here and I couldn't agree more about the reading someone like that. I know it's never easy to catch those small habits we have but the lover does and later on expresses their thoughts on how those small acts make one even more adorable than they already were. I cannot imagine a write of yours which would be devoid of imagery so as usual you nailed it here, And for me this is also one of my favorite poems here, since I can relate myself to be the one who is reading the other person here ^^ Liked it a lot ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^

Now this is a deep abiding love. When all good expectation and vision transform the positive manifestations of unconditional love, there is the ability to metamorphose into the creature we never knew how to be.
Intertwined souls indeed!
Lovely write Lydi.

So happy you understood, David. Thank you very much. Lydi**
i have put one young lady and another on a pedestal and it never went well for me ..aside from learning a good lesson ;) i can not help but wonder if the woman appearing is the speaker or one he leaves her for? ;) i have a feeling it was a very good thing ..and the rose colored glasses elevated both :)

yes ..and your poem says it so well ..i was hoping that was the case!
Your words create such a moving imagery of life, of this place of blinded loving. Each glimpse echoes a sweet vibration of the last, and envelopes us all in the pages coming to life before our eyes. :)

I love this, Lydi :) Love can remind us of the good in us we often over look...can give us back the pieces of ourselves we have buried or thought weren't good enough because of rejections. That one person that really sees you and loves what thy see, can bring you back to accepting and loving those parts of you you felt were unworthy of love. Very touching words, grasped my heart tightly!

Thank you so much, Lynn. Your words are much appreciated. Lydi**
Sometimes we may develope the attributes others bestow upon us, or perhaps they're there all along unbeknownst to ourselves until others read those qualities and bring us to the front page
Nice work Lydi...

dear Lydi, "there you stood in my
living room"... I love ghostly images
and it is true, we can read someone into
existence. Poetry gives us a poetic license.
One of my favorite poems by you.

We don't always see ourselves the way other's do...
Your poem is lovely Lydi and the art you chose is perfect. I can see why this is one of your favorites - and now it is one of mine too. Another masterpiece my friend.

Thank you so much, Julie. Yes, we are often our own worst critics. Lydi**
my favorite characters spring to life all of a sudden... sometimes people see us differently than we see ourselves and if they are persistent enough, eventually we can become what they see, and really, what we probably always were...this is a great write, Lydi...love it...Thomas

Indeed, other people see us quite differently than we see ourselves. Thank you, Thomas. Lydi**
