wordless whispers

wordless whispers

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by doris joa

there is a timelessness

in your wordless whispers

they touch me like a velvety summer breeze

an autumn leaf dancing off a tree

          a rhythmic winter snowflake

or the silver tears of a springtime rain

i listen for them as if in a trance

even though you are long gone

they tug at my heart

they tickle that special part of me

time has made you the dream i dream

yes, your wordless whispers linger

I love the opening two lines -- very thought-provoking (& I tend to be more cerebral) -- plus I always enjoy your smooth sensual descriptions of natural phenomena meant to conjure up sensations of longing. If only all absent beloved experiences could be this delightful! *smile*

u r welcome! :)
A gentle rustle by the river that
can barely be heard... delicate
sounds of memories... "or the silver
tears of a springtime rain"...
A symphony's prelude to a love note.
truly, Pat

great title, such an apt picture and the most wonderful words that whisper to the heart of those of us who know that love exists, out there, somewhere... sometimes it is someone we have had opportunity to spend time with...sometimes it's that someone who has passed on from the world... but love, still remains... love this, Lydi!

A beautiful poem. The words "wordless whispers". I could write a complete poem from with ease. All words are needed to be said. Eyes of love and concern. Someone to sit with and enjoy life with. Thank you dear Lydia for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome Lydia.
I love the lighthearted sound of this beautiful poem. Even though there is a strong sense of longing, the memory seems to linger 'ever gently on your mind', (to borrow a line from Glen Campbell's song.) Your words float upon the page like a song. I really love this, Lydi!

Love the line "rhythmic winter snowflake" - so beautiful. Makes me wish I had a special someone, so I could hear their wordless whispers. :)

A most powerful susurrating sound, that echoes the intricacy of that one special person. This poem travels through memories and plucks all the beautiful ones, creating a bouquet of longing.
Love the harmony of sounds throughout the poem. It gives the ear a velvety whispering sound.
loved it!!
