wordless whispers

wordless whispers

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by doris joa

there is a timelessness

in your wordless whispers

they touch me like a velvety summer breeze

an autumn leaf dancing off a tree

          a rhythmic winter snowflake

or the silver tears of a springtime rain

i listen for them as if in a trance

even though you are long gone

they tug at my heart

they tickle that special part of me

time has made you the dream i dream

yes, your wordless whispers linger

I love the opening two lines -- very thought-provoking (& I tend to be more cerebral) -- plus I always enjoy your smooth sensual descriptions of natural phenomena meant to conjure up sensations of longing. If only all absent beloved experiences could be this delightful! *smile*

A beautiful nostalgia and - i need to read it again ...

' your wordless whispers linger.. ' - and so they do, gently and lovingly in your writing, so gently and lovingly within this reader. You set the bar when it comes to writing from somewhere deep inside yet you never over embroider nor dilute. You are a true poet, Lydi.

Love and timelessness go together like a horse and carriage, always have, always will.

Perfectly timed for me as I have been missing a friend lately. I especially like the lines " they tug at my heart / they tickle that special part of me". Poignant and pretty. ~Jim

Wow, I love how you've created a strong image through this simple yet elegant poem although I'm curious to know why you haven't used capital letters anywhere, looks odd at some places. Great write nonetheless and that's what matters. Thank you for sharing :))
