wordless whispers

wordless whispers

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by doris joa

there is a timelessness

in your wordless whispers

they touch me like a velvety summer breeze

an autumn leaf dancing off a tree

          a rhythmic winter snowflake

or the silver tears of a springtime rain

i listen for them as if in a trance

even though you are long gone

they tug at my heart

they tickle that special part of me

time has made you the dream i dream

yes, your wordless whispers linger

I love the opening two lines -- very thought-provoking (& I tend to be more cerebral) -- plus I always enjoy your smooth sensual descriptions of natural phenomena meant to conjure up sensations of longing. If only all absent beloved experiences could be this delightful! *smile*

dreamy - it takes me to the moon, around Venus, then a jaunt around the earth - up the skies - and lays me like a carpet of leaves on the ground, to grow roots as spring is coming - the snow has melted - but the nostalgic feelings holds on - reminding the subject of moments shared with the departed loved one

The vivid imagery, the beautiful flow of the words and the emotions shined through. I wonder though wordless whispers for me reminded of memories of the past. Or more like the possibilities of the memories that one could have ended up making yet never took place. Yet those times still linger, different emotions felt, at different times, just like how the seasons change one after the other. ^^ Your writes are short but they do leave quite an impression on the reader. I enjoyed it ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^

There is a certain intuition of sorts with unspoken intentions. When we present our souls with expectancy to receive bliss, we do more often than not receive what we anticipate.
This reads like the voice of the wind across the ocean's tide.
Beautiful.

Such a poetic review. Thank you, David. Lydi**
How lovely - velvet summer breeze, autumn leaf dancing, rhythmic winter snowflake, silver tears; each season spilling forth evidence of continued desire for one now but a memory! A heart tug caught in a wordless whisper beats as one while yearning for two.
