my mood
is like an empty chair
rocking on a porch do you see it there - - near the seaside?
it's waiting to be filled
today i’ve decided to borrow your mirth
adopt the spring in your step
espouse your optimistic view of life
then stand back to admire
the view from the terrace
the humid breeze generously delivers
flower scented air to the veranda
while a tired smile plays on my lips it’s all good - - because you were my daddy
This is a beautiful tribute to your dad, Lydi...I lost mine late last year and though I had opportunity to spend a lot of time with him, I do wish I could have had more and there are days I feel like that chair, empty and other times filled... at least we have memories :)

Indeed, memories are precious. Thank you for the review and the compassion, FT. Lydi**
Lydi... to borrow your mirth...
to adopt the spring in your step...
How precious! I adore the photo
of you and your Dad. Seaside smiles
abide in your heart forever.
A perfect Fathers Day portrait
framed with affection. truly, Pat
Love the feeling of this ... from the empty chair, to the adopting that positive view ... and, finishing us off with the last line ... loaded with an emotion all can identify with. As always, you are the best. ~Jim

Thank you so much, my friend. Always a pleasure to receive your reviews. Be well. Lydi**
How I envy you, having such indomitable memories of your Dad. No matter how old we become, we'll always be their "little girl"!
Bless you for writing such a tangible feeling from your heart! [ ...you really favor your Dad, Lydi! ]

They will never be forgotten as long as I am alive. Thanks for the warm review, Kelly. Lydi**
Your words just touched my heart Lydi. I can feel the amazing love you have combined with the huge sense of loss you experienced. My son and daughter just lost their father last October so Father's Day will be rough. I hope that you will find a way to get through without too much sadness. Your poem speaks volumes.

This is a truly beautiful series of recollections and a most fitting tribute to your father Lydi. I am sure there are many of us out here who share your sense of loss and longing on the run up to 'Fathers Day'...
My own Dad whom I loved & still love dearly checked out only three Fathers Days ago.... N

What a heartfelt gorgeous write for father's day. A man who has brought to life such a wonderful daughter. His happy memories live strong in you as you recall his snuggling arms.
XO
A well expressed sentiment although I never quite understand how we humans deal with loss. It is the most certain of all aspects of our lives and yet the one most are ill prepared for. The love, the photograph and the memories live on inside you Lydi.
