I smile
because I have lived it
danced to it
the narcotic rhythm of verse
lived in it and through it
submerged myself in a bubble bath
of steamy innuendo
flowers and caution
thrown to the winds of chance
reveled in that parallel universe
where contraband is confiscated
then hidden by butterflies
in the wild grass of thought
I smile
because I have known the quiet urgency
the unexplainable yearning
of stalking that perfect syllable
in a place where words rule
where peeling meaning off lines
of succulent verse
simply to devour its sweet sections
somehow makes more sense
than most any other pursuit
