free spirits

free spirits

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

free spirits come as you are
or as you would like to actually
what you have heard is true
this sea of sighs leads to a place
even the tour books dare not elaborate on

atmospheric pressure is not measured by isobars here
only by a sensual caress
a heady goblet of wine begs you
to touch its fragile wet rim
exactly where crimson lipstick left its tattoo

those who swim through this sea of cerulean fantasy
emerge dancing to the music of infinite desire
be not impetuous or overly enthusiastic
the crescendo is worth the wait

moist limbs entwined with magic vines of lust
kneel between the heart and mind
learning to excel at seduction
sure, the force pulls you
yet you are a willing traveler
do you dare? of course you do!
so free spirits, come as you are

this puts me in a place i have felt before, but even then it was out of place. at the time, i felt born in the wrong time. i wish we could pick and choose decades at different times in our lives that suit us and our growth at the time. kind of like worldly travel, except time travel. hopping in the time vortex manipulator. ill be back in 1970, but, don't wait up.

love this!

I like this Lydia. I think the free spirit thing speaks to me. Of course that may be because I was around in the "60's when free love was the word of the day. Beautiful words of love, passion and the free spirit Very nice and thank you.

Hear, hear.. the free spirit holds its breath. And prepares - as necessary in glorious anticipation. And that, dear Lydi, lingers oh so happily in yet another of your Winter.warm poems!.

Tis my absolute pleasure.. :)
Yes indeed, this is another delightful poem Lydi, enticingly inviting and filled to overflowing with sensuality and other stuff that draws the reader in and momentarily provides them with a brief respite from their own boring fifty shades of grey..........N

Lydi, free spirits bloom from leaves of
possibility.... to touch the fragile
wet rim of desire of a goblet of wine
where crimson lipstick left its tattoo.
Gorgeous poetry. truly, Pat

Lydi, "free spirits" rule!! Or maybe it should be said, as the "free spirit" of poetry, you rule!! the words, the art, (even the color green), adding passion and sensuality and just damn picturesque words that you turn everyone who reads into "free spirits" if they haven't yet become one.... needless to say, but I will anyway, it's one hellava "NICE" poem Lydi.... ~~redzone

HI TRACE! Thanks so much for the review. Always happy to see your smiling face on my page. Lydi**
I loved it! I do consider myself a free spirit so I felt I connected well with this poem. It was so sensual and seductive. The second stanza flows smoothly like jazz. The following stanzas explain the attraction free spirits pull towards themselves or the third stanza could mean that as a free spirit that person is driven. At least that's what I get from the poem. Awesome job.
