forever

forever

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork courtesy of imgkid.com

i knew it would not be forever

an ocean of happiness lay before us

urging us to immerse ourselves

we dove in

midnight danced in your eyes

you were a mystery i needed to unravel

as we walked so close

our shadows painted ominous shadows in the sand

our thoughts collided

then fell into the safety net of passion

but all too soon the fugitive sunlight

stole passion and you away from me

i knew it would not be forever

so why can’t i forget?

I like the line our shadows painted ominous shadows in the sand. It really struck a chord with me. Forgetting those who we missed the chance with or something similar,. We tend to glorify them even more than those who are around us in the present. Never healthy, but then again who said love was always about the good things only. Thank you for sharing ^^

Great write, Lydia. You've totally captured how I've been feeling.

I don't know why we find it so hard.

Perhaps it's because it made us feel... alive. Free. Completely and utterly in love and happiness. I suppose there are not many moments like that, and even fewer people who can make us feel that way. X

How could one deny themselves such moments in time - such short interludes of ecstasy in between a lifetimes pain and sorrow?
To remember is to relive again and again and to make it last forever in the heart.
Thank for sharing dear Lydia.

Now there's a million dollar question! I think we just get caught up in the heady delight of it all. It's the dance... and it makes our heart feel alive again.

Beautiful imagery from the graphic, Lydi!
