In My Life

In My Life

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

Remembering a friend

"

artwork "Rainbow" by Eria Nsubuga

Today

thoughts of you pressed against my window

then chased me into a rainbow

from there I watched

buttery sunlight lick the clouds away

and listened as the breeze whispered your name

I’m sure I smelled your cologne

but it might have just been my imagination

an imagination that these days

whistles whimsically

          remembering

yes, I’m writing elegies

but still smiling

because you were in my life

The opening is truly beautiful Lydia, the "pressed against my window" phrase brought a lump to my throat - and a smile grew in tandem with the writers as I reached the end because It is indeed wonderful to feel such a smile, through the pain, when it is brought on by memories.
Yes, this resonated with me and Im sure with anyone who reads it.
Thank you for sharing this Lydia.
God Bless my friend.

This poem literally gave me shivers. Beautiful, so full of love and honest emotion. Helped me drown out the drama in the feed. Thank you for your ever sane and wonderful presence here.

dear Lydi, our memories are part and sinew of
our being and not a day goes by that we are not
reminded of our loved ones who have gone beyond
the rainbow. Spring is a celebration of life and
renewal with its sunshine and showers of love
and devotion. Your art is delightful. truly, Pat

Excellent. Last night I happened to dream of a friend that I lost a couple years ago ... for some reason I feel happier to have spent a few minutes with him in a dream than I tend to feel around anyone in this mortal realm. Yes, elegies have been coming to me lately, but none seem to reach fruition. ~Jim

Thank you Lydi for the Easter happy!!
Though now gone, it was truly a pleasure and an honour to have been acquainted with such a warm and wonderful person, such valued friendships do so enrich the quality and happiness of our very own lives and leave an indelibly, deep seated fulfillment that will always remain with us !

A wonderfully penned, edifying and poignant poem, refined and highly polished as always Lydia !!
