i'll miss you

i'll miss you

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

i try to digest the moment

     soft and silent

but volatile shadows held up by marble bookends

            grab my attention

like yellowed newspapers with words from another time and place

their headlines cannot be swept away easily

all the mundane mondays

          wistful wednesdays

                thoughtless thursdays

                     sanguine saturdays

gang up on me

i taste the air of grief

but this time it is different

                      almost surrealistic

humming “sunday will never be the same”

salty emotions proliferate

i ask the unanswerable

you left your pain behind and now it haunts us

hey, you lived and died as you wanted

but there is little comfort in that

trying to transmit my emotions through space

      i’ll miss you

but you knew that

the feeling of loss in this piece is so very palpable.

i was drawn in by the title because i know what it's like to lose someone who has been so close that he or she is almost a part of us....no, who IS a part of us.

how ironic that the beauty and majesty of your piece is so exquisitely juxtaposed to the pain of the loss.

a hauntingly beautiful write...

dear Lydi... I remember moments soft
and silent... when life slipped away...
now held by marble bookends.
The memories hold me together...
remembering the tender tears and
years. I think of Frank Sinatra singing...
softly as I leave you... truly... Pat

So beautiful and sad Lydi.
Loss is difficult to deal with, I don't think you ever fully heal. You just accept it and move forward, looking back every so often. A truly moving poem.

You're welcome Lydi. It was my pleasure to read your beautiful poetry.
How can it ever be easy to lose a cherished friend or family member?
But in writing, we find solace for the soul, and your writing is always from the heart.

So sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathies Lydia dear friend.
Anger is part of grief and so is depression but they are all part of the natural grieving process. You penned a dignified write here - I immedaiately worried when I saw the image that is in place of your normal sensual pics but afte reading this I am relaxed again because I know you are as level headed as any here and 'stu', if you dont mind me referring to them as I did not know them, will guide you.
God Bless dear Lydia.

Very poignant and heartfelt poem Lydia. I hope this was another step in healing as you 'transmitted your emotions through space". Never an easy time, that's for sure to have to say goodbye to a loved one.
God bless you dear poetess.
