scattered chorus

scattered chorus

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by svetlana valueva

latitudes and longitudes
avoid the equator line

so as not to break their mother’s back

meridian lines blur
while the globe spins just a little slower
schedules being a tad more unpredictable these days
still, paper airplanes take off
out of imagination international daily
and soar to heights heretofore unthinkable
yes, life still sings memory’s nursery rhymes
     albeit slightly out of tune
but the bluesy chorus scatters just a bit more
with each passing year

"imagination international", great little image here.. as I read I saw you hoping on that paper airplane, buckling up and soaring through those memories as they "scattered" in your wake... memories that once sung deep blues, that now are more subdued, though still traveling the longitudes and latitudes of your life... I liked the soft current of "out of tune" sung nursery rhymes... of course, and you know I would take this to a strange place, I have a nursery rhyme for you: "little Ms Lydi, sitting on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey, along came a spider and she bopped it on it's head.. er.. ah... Lydi, you know I enjoyed your "equator blues".... ;0) "albeit a slightly out of tune" nice!!! ~~redzone

There are times when things seem a little out of tune...memories feel so very far away.
I love the line
still, paper airplanes take off
out of imagination international daily
You have a stellar imagination Lydi.
Beautiful and elegant and "you".

You do the same, Tiana. Thanks for the review. Lydi**
thoughts get scattered over time and slightly out of tune for sure,

but the paper airplanes still fly just the same even if the sky
is a bit foggier...once again Lydi, beautiful poetry you write!

To me, I get the feeling of growing older, and life feeling a little disjointed, disconnected, not always "on time" -- another strong piece from your artful pen.

In whatever line in the world or region of weather, your imagination is getting ready for a flight of reality and others for fancy. Tickets are ready to be dispensed before it is too late to fly and capture those wonderful moments together. From nursery rhymes to breezy lines at the islands, we should stay in tune with love and beauty... Excellent...:)............
Note: The art work is superb too...:)............

This lovely, perceptive bit of nostalgic reverie--with its novel metaphors and stunning imagery--is a song well sung, Lydi.
Pure and touching poetry.

yes, "imagination international daily"

what an exceptional metaphor---soaring to heights with our words...a bluesy chorus scattering them...maybe they are better scattered and riding that paper airplane than all neatly strung in a row...in a predictable form...predictable form doesn't really fly...it walks.

i think i see that spider coming...i am going to go now...i hope Curt kills it.

Laughing here....you and Curt would be a great comedy team! Thanks for the review, Jacob. Lydi**
Change is unavoidable, inevitable... it is going to happen... some things get better with age.. while the skin may get wrinkled, maybe we actually learn to be comfortable in it.. while the wheels in the mind may be a little slower and rusty, it holds so much more wisdom and patience... while the sounds of our soul may get a little "scattered" the depth of passion is profound... I love the lines--"still, paper airplanes take off/out of imagination international daily/and soar to heights heretofore unthinkable..."...

your creativity, wit, and brilliant imagination illuminate the page and takes your readers to such stunning places with elegant sophistication.. easily into my favorites...
