meridian
lines blur
while the globe spins just a little slower schedules being a tad more unpredictable
these days
still, paper airplanes take off
out of imagination international daily
and soar to heights heretofore unthinkable
yes, life still sings memory’s nursery rhymes albeit slightly out of tune
but the bluesy chorus scatters just a bit more
with each passing year
"imagination international", great little image here.. as I read I saw you hoping on that paper airplane, buckling up and soaring through those memories as they "scattered" in your wake... memories that once sung deep blues, that now are more subdued, though still traveling the longitudes and latitudes of your life... I liked the soft current of "out of tune" sung nursery rhymes... of course, and you know I would take this to a strange place, I have a nursery rhyme for you: "little Ms Lydi, sitting on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey, along came a spider and she bopped it on it's head.. er.. ah... Lydi, you know I enjoyed your "equator blues".... ;0) "albeit a slightly out of tune" nice!!! ~~redzone

I had a teacher in grade school and when I would ask, "Can I go to the restroom?" She would reply, "I don't know. Can you?" Finally I 'got it' and would rephrase my question to, "May I go to the restroom?" OYIE! ( P.S. As poets we are allowed to bend and even break the rules eh? That's part of the fun!)
" ... paper airplanes take off out of imagination international daily ...". I truly fear that day when I find no more "flights" from my pen. A wonderful and whimsical look at writing and the passing of time. You definitely make your words soar. ~Jim

There is such a "bluesy" feel to this, almost nostalgic. Perhaps the graphic inspired the nuance of your magic carpet of words! You always appease the mind of your reader, as well as the soul, Lydi!
My best,

I appreciate your review, Kelly. Yup, it was nostalgic, no doubt about it. Lydi**
Life sometimes is never what it seems. We think of what we had but in present moments gets lost. We longing for those finer days. Superb piece as always.
What a poetically complex of words here, Lydi.. your language is fantastic. Seems time is both stranger and lover for most of our lives, and, when memories begin to fade, like those paper aeroplanes, there's a feeling of.. slipping into another but still happy place, '.. ife still sings memory’s nursery rhymes - albeit slightly out of tune. I appreciate your reviews so much, Emma. Thanks. Lydi**
This fired off so many images Lydia - I pictured you sitting beside a gorgeous globe of inlaid gold plating and brilliant glittering enamels; spinning it almost hypnotically which brought to mind so many newsreels that I have seen of the golden years of travel before the package came and stole the glamour of the age - of the pilots with their crisp suits and crisper smiles and the air stewardess whose job epitomised glamour. I enjoyed taking this wee trip with you in the literal and I hope you dont mind.
It was dreamy...

Loved your images after reading my words, Anto! Thank you very much. Lydi**
Sometimes it's all we have is memories. Our imagination coupled with these memories can make us sit and wonder about many things. Sometimes memories are not so clear so imagination certainly helps with remembering certain things. With out an imagination where would our memories be....
dear Lydi.... Paper airplanes still take off
internationally every day... One of the most
extraordinary poems ever written...
I have to pause and meditate on
mysterious lines we cross throughout
our journey. A peacock spreads it's
wings and a songbird stirs our soul.
Peace and love... truly... Pat
Thank you so much, Pat. I hope you and Roger are staying safe and warm through this storm. Lydi**

Lydi, this poem was wonderful. You speak of memories being out of tune, but this poem played a sweet melody of memories to me as I read. You words bring thoughts to my mind and I have fun finding them and re-living within them. Very nice.
