yes, i remember

yes, i remember

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

"ocean allure" by garmash

the breeze was cool

the other side of the pillow cool

where had it been?

languishing at the corner

of sweet recollection and try to forget?

it whispered to me

            taunted me

then, satisfied it had been noticed

danced merrily from whence it came

yes, i remember

This can relate to so much in our life
more than the image painted,

and often we find ourselves remembering that place
or time, or someone that left an indelible mark on our heart.

This gave me reason to pause ........................................
and remember.....

Thank you my friend,

Trace

And it seems that the taunting succeeded to remind you. But it seems like a memory, you should never depart from. yes, keep remembering...

Somethings are impossible to forget! Thank you. Lydi**
For me this is about a bittersweet memory. We try to forget, but sometimes it just sneaks into our subconscious and makes us remember it's still there. Powerfully emotive.

Yes, you know it, KL. Thank you. Lydi**
The remembering of a love that once was or that softness felt of a love that still exists. Sometimes a love felt or shared remains a memory and little things in life seem to remind us of this feeling.

Troy, I appreciate your reviews. Thanks. Lydi**
i'm still trying to figure out, dear Lydia, where memory comes from. Is there a reservoir of thoughts
you can call on like some large, burdensome lake or some forgotten musical score you wrote
as a child like Chopin, and that you blow the dust off of. Or is memory a list of things
you pick from the many branches of life before they ripen or rotten? In Alfred Noyes
"The Highwaymen" the memory of the landlords daughter was so powerful, he thought,
risking scorn and military intervention, that he was the rightful owner of them. This poem
had me thinking of memory as ownership even though the very act of wanting to forget,,
is a painful one.(at times)/

wonderful as always my friend.....dana

Dana, I just love the way my poetry makes you think. Your intellectual reviews are a joy for me. T.. read more
this one I admit, has me confused.. on one hand, I feel a soft sweet, cool breeze drifting by sweeping me back to a time that holds happiness, on the other hand, I feel a bittersweet edge to it, where it reminds you of something you miss, you were trying to forget the pain of missing, yet makes the heart flutter in the wind with love as you remember that precious time with them.. may be way off, but that is where it took my mind.. lovely writing as always... I dance merrily when noticed sometimes too:)

Those memories we remember even if left on the corner "try to forget", yes they do tease, haunt at times until we pay them proper respect.. one of your poems I will read, 're-read many times cause it is cool as in "nice"

Nor should they Lydi, even the messy ones. They shape us don't they!!

Artful, well-crafted and charming, Lydi. The picture is a lovely, extremely apt, complement.
A superior offering.
