merely
muted moments remain now
wet footprints of days past
imprint a year quickly disappearing
into memory’s ocean
passion lounges on the sand
while sequestered “might have beens”
swim for the finish line
clutching
renewed desires and expectations
in their hot little hands time - the ultimate elixir for the soul
waves a collage of hope for a new year
what
a perfect time to write you a love song
punctuated with intoxicating kisses
deciphered by new year’s eve l’amour
' time - the ultimate elixir for the soul ' what a phrase and what a poem! You always phrase beautifully yet use positivity or logic, start to finish; no frilly, soppy bits yet romance, humour and all the rest linger in the background like session singers for your performance. Grrrreat
Happy New Everthing, Lydi..

2014 came and went much too quickly--almost frighteningly so.
"Muted moments remain" is lyrical, rich in imagery and well-crafted; in other words, high-level work.
Happy 2015, Lydia!
dear Lydi... desires and expectations...
where pristine sand awaits under
falling stars where passions take
a deep breath and once again
score new melodies of amour...
truly a lovely farewell to the old
and welcome to the sound of
New Years dance of love's
flowers. Pat

A year of our life has so much of us in it, it almost takes on an entity of its own. We label it good or bad and it goes down that way forever in our memories. But in the end that's what it becomes, just a memory. So I love the suggestion in this beautiful poem to fill it with as much love as we can, while we can.

You are welcome Lydi. I wish you an amazing and magical New Year!
"... while sequestered “might have beens” swim for the finish line" ... ooh ! Just the kind of line to make this reader smile. I like that this poem ends with love and "l'amour" ... as a perfect year should. Kudos on another fine write. ~Jim

Thanks so much, Jim. May 2015 bring you many reasons to smile. Take care. Lydi**
You capture the inane nature of the Christmas season and the reflection and hope it and the approaching New Year brings. A time when people break up or develop liasions/relationships.
"wet footprints of days past
imprint a year quickly disappearing"
Now that is reality Lydi. I love the entire poem, but those two lines capture it all. This was beautiful, a little bit sobering but then an ending with love. Nice.
