blank pages of my life lie scattered
between rows of empty nights
harshly spotlighted
even as I whisper
“i’m ready for my close-up mr. de mille”
the silence of this cool december snickers
i become the incendiary of memories
pointing an accusatory finger
straight into the mirror’s image
overblown memoirs loom large as buoyancy fades
leaving the casual observer to ponder
is she an object in motion or rest?
perhaps just a perpetrator
shamelessly flouting newton’s first law
once more, december snickers
As the year ends, so many things to ponder the past months and plan for the next year. December then holds a spacial value in our memory and its melancholia. Life can be scattered or gathered in losses and gains. Excellent Lydia. The painting is sad and beautiful...:)...........

Every passing year brings with it increasing loneliness and isolation. We find the beauty and brightness fading. We cling all the more to what was, what used to be, sometimes almost obsessively. This poem really spoke to me. It is me. Yet I do take comfort in those I love and who will always love me.Thanks for sharing.
Feeling of the passage of another year, the speaker's sense of loneliness and loss, and resignation, come through. A beautiful piece. Very melancholy but understandable.
dear Lydi... another year snickers like
sweet chocolate melts with memories.
Your reflection is a poem of lovers' nights
in tangled emotions of sugar plum dreams.
Your poetry shines like blue frosty stars against
a galaxy of possibilities. truly... Pat

I am wearing a shirt that says, "The older the fiddle,
the sweeter the tune". An Irish quote...
and this mirror shows her current beauty, and she is ready for her close up....she wants it now while the mirror is still kind, "between the empty nights"--=where there is motion, if only in her mind.

Now this first caught my attention as a recovering addict. Snickers bars are a weakness of mine. Better than sex and less messy! You contrive such a sad picture here Lydi as I too feel the emptiness you so articulately describe.

Lydi, this is so lonely and so sad. I feel this one. Past her prime, gazing at her reflection and not really seeing the person looking back. (If I am correct) This was so good.
