blank pages of my life lie scattered
between rows of empty nights
harshly spotlighted
even as I whisper
“i’m ready for my close-up mr. de mille”
the silence of this cool december snickers
i become the incendiary of memories
pointing an accusatory finger
straight into the mirror’s image
overblown memoirs loom large as buoyancy fades
leaving the casual observer to ponder
is she an object in motion or rest?
perhaps just a perpetrator
shamelessly flouting newton’s first law
once more, december snickers
As the year ends, so many things to ponder the past months and plan for the next year. December then holds a spacial value in our memory and its melancholia. Life can be scattered or gathered in losses and gains. Excellent Lydia. The painting is sad and beautiful...:)...........

it is indeed the only month that wields such great power over all of us. we are strangely aware that a page is about to be turned and we are perhaps reluctant to let that happen.
wonderfully penned Lydia.
December definitely calls for some self introspection and reflection on the year that went by. it's always mocking us,. isn't it. one can't help but get carried away in the melancholy of this month. the whole concept of time, memories, old and new, endings and beginnings scare us and excite us. your words are just too beautiful they hurt. especially love that last verse! i can never forget it. i hope you are having a warm December, my friend.

Beautiful, melancholy piece. The looking back, looking for meaning and hope… it's completely relatable at probably every adult age!

Yes, it's December and the year will soon to end. In this month, we reflect on what were done during the year. And it is so sad when some dreams remain unachieved.
You have exceptional word choice here. Your lines are expressed with elegance.
Nice work, Lydi. Keep it up!
December can be such a cruel month with the holidays and all the lonely people that commit suicide this month it's so horribly sad.
