"

Just having a little fun

"

artwork by Walter Robinson

Threading inhibitions
through a legal loophole
I impersonate a self assured adult
while in a tailspin of anxiety
or is that a state of turmoil?
in any case

            oh so very civilized

A throaty chortle
from the devil on my shoulder
seems like contraband
sure my blouse stays buttoned up
but my imagination is wide open

Stretching out
on a plump mattress of fantasy
society gratuitously winks
a blind eye at me

Potent and persuasive
phallic symbols sidle up
into my line of fire
so belly up to the bar boys
this prim and proper princess
is steadfast in her belief
yup the time is long overdue
for some naughty but nice fun

That bellying up to the bar sounds painful--and likely to chafe.
Also,, your buttoned blouse bothers me no end; do you have any blouses without buttons--or better yet, missing a few?
I think we can clear up both these problems by changing the fourth line in the last stanza to:
"so belly up to the bra boys." Of course, you'd have to be wearing one.
Admire your work, Lydi.

Oh, but it is soooooooo much fun to be naughty (and nice)!! You make it even more fun - long overdue is when it happens and the body tingles, the mouth is ready for a passionate kiss, and it's "ooooh, la, la" time AGAIN!!! I love it! I am such a flirt, that it's hard to imagine getting to this point but then............giggling! How about another round of drinks???

This poem reminds me of a colleague of mine. Who also worked similar. She considered herself a princess, as well.
Marvelous!!

Thank you, Derek. Lydi**
may i have another drink please?

sometimes we just have to let go of inhibitions or anything else that curtails us just letting go and having a night of it...

love the analogies in this ...

this could be like one of those hits from the sixties that comes in on the charts in the top ten, climbs quickly to number one and stays there for weeks.

Wow Lydi such a wonderful, light and expressive piece. The sentiments in this are so easy and they flow in wonderful metaphors from your pen. Wonderful!
