at dark thirtyA Poem by Lydia Shutter“schone” by jantina peperkamp sanguine syllables play in a field just out of my reach not quite forming a poem yet they wave at me - - beckoning me to join them knowing my zealous appetite will peak at the chance of having them at my beck and call ah, but as I approach the scene manifests itself a picket sign emblazoned with your name and countenance is held by each unobliging word they begin to hum the mantra of you they are staging a sit in! fully realizing this will render my fingers woefully inadequate so mark it on your calendar yes, that’s right the one you always kept in your pocket to protect your heart - - at dark thirty this morning my creativity ceded power to the emotive verse of you © 2014 Lydia Shutter
