sanguine syllables play
in a field just out of my reach
not quite forming a poem yet
they wave at me - -
beckoning me to join them
knowing my zealous appetite
will peak at the chance
of having them at my
beck and call
ah, but as I approach
the scene manifests itself
a picket sign
emblazoned with your name
and countenance
is held by each unobliging word
they begin to hum
the mantra of you they are staging a sit in!
fully realizing this will
render my fingers
woefully inadequate
so mark it on your calendar
yes, that’s right
the one you always kept
in your pocket
to protect your heart - -
at dark thirty this morning
my creativity ceded power
to the emotive verse of you
There are those that hold a special place in our heart and we struggle to find the words that will explain a feeling - unexplainable....and yet, Lydi - you always manage to find the words that curl right up in the readers heart. You are amazing.

Only you could bring syllables and words to life so playfully. you dress your words to kill,
in the nicest way, of course! ;) What a delightful read..full of impassioned wordplay. "so mark it on your calendar yes, that’s right, the one you always kept, in your pocket..to protect your heart - -".. Wow, truly! Amazing my friend.

And one more time, I thank you with a smile. Lydi**
I can relate Lydi. The loss of words taunts us and our aching hearts cause us to fight to lay pen to paper. Never give up the will, the fight to create that next beautiful piece.
Either poets are naturally powerful or powerfully overwhelmed by others or the usage of certain words. We give and take sharing in the grand artistic endeavor. An excellent write Lydia...:).........

the words are there, they just refuse to play right.. they are on the sidelines laughing at the struggle to make things flow without them... they tease and beckon the others to switch sides and each loss as painful as the last.. taunting you with their absence.. those picket signs stabbing into your soul ripping away its resolve.. just wishing it were one big happy team again... the longing.. the heartache.. the frustration is strong within this one.. I love your use of language in this one.. witty and entertaining as always my friend.. love this!..
