the
sky is hungry for daylight
the highway to places i’ve never been hums in the semi-brightness of dawn
dressed in a ready-for-possibilities outfit
i nibble on sweet memories
waiting for my breakfast of hope
to be served by splintered thought
at a table reserved for only me
in the café of nothing else matters
"The sky is hungry for daylight", what an amazing opening line Lydi. And then it gets better. I know it's a table reserved for you, but your words invite the reader to pull up a chair and sit with your "memories", sip a freshly brewed dawn and enjoy the wonderful company of your delicious poem.....
I did a search at Wikipedia for you Lydi and found this entry "born in mystery, living in metaphors, alive with poetry" and I thought, yes, that is Lydi. Poetry is always best served with dawn, coffee and sticky bum memories... thanks Lydi for your wonderfully "nice", "extraordinary nice", poem

You are an artist even in the art of escapism. It is amazing how when we immerse ourselves in something that we love, nothing else matters. Excellent Lydia...:).........
Ahh.. We should definitely catch up someday in the cafe of 'nothing else matters'. Your 'highway to places I've never been' calls to me too. Your poem bathes me in light and hope, Lydi. What a wonderful feeling to get from a poem .Simply lovely, my friend.

I yearn to find a seat in such a cafe and escape the sometimes mundane way of life - yes allow me to dwell on the memories, and have hope, and sit at such a table..........a place perhaps in paradise!
Well expressed with such a wonderful image!!
I am absolutely never disappointed when I stop by. This poem provides the reader with a glimpse into a place where the words matter and they work beautifully together to create a whole picture.
Lydi, I was floating and then falling then floating. This poem climbed into me as if it is calling me home. I feel this and I am confused but delighted. (How confused does that sound?) I absolutely love this little poem. It runs right down the middle.

Well I have always held this place in high esteem but not quite as high as this well constructed accolade!
There are too many for whom the virtual world becomes their world and oh so easy it is to fall.
