the cafe of nothing else matters

the cafe of nothing else matters

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

the sky is hungry for daylight
the highway to places i’ve never been hums
in the semi-brightness of dawn
dressed in a ready-for-possibilities outfit
i nibble on sweet memories
waiting for my breakfast of hope
to be served by splintered thought
at a table reserved for only me
in the café of nothing else matters

"The sky is hungry for daylight", what an amazing opening line Lydi. And then it gets better. I know it's a table reserved for you, but your words invite the reader to pull up a chair and sit with your "memories", sip a freshly brewed dawn and enjoy the wonderful company of your delicious poem.....

I did a search at Wikipedia for you Lydi and found this entry "born in mystery, living in metaphors, alive with poetry" and I thought, yes, that is Lydi. Poetry is always best served with dawn, coffee and sticky bum memories... thanks Lydi for your wonderfully "nice", "extraordinary nice", poem

I loved the poem and the artwork. You say so much with minimum words. I like the calmness and the passion in your words. Thank you Dear Poet for your amazing poetry.

Actually never touch the stuff! :) Thanks for the review, Alfred. Lydi*
After a day of walking the road less traveled, one needs respite at the cafe of nothing matters... A melancholy amble, Lydi, rich in wonderful metaphors.

Thanks, David. Have a wonderful Sunday. Lydi**
and you think i do metaphors well?

good grief...this eats my metaphors for lunch....

and then...the readers get all the gratuity on top of that...

i really like "the ready-for-possibilities outfit"

this poem hums softly and loudly all at once.

I adore the melancholy feel of this one Lydi...nibbling on sweet memories...waiting for my breakfast of hope... The perfect poem to read early on a Saturday morning..

dear Lydi... "in the cafe of nothing else matters"...
Mysterious and intriguing... I would venture out
in my outfit of possibilities... I love your sense of
propriety steaming with romantic overtures.
truly... Pat
