i
claim a hefty dollop
of summer’s humidity
reserved for only me
as i open the hatchway to my day
the balmy breeze unclutters
the rubber tree’s mind
while a susurrus of butterfly wings
buttons the still dreamy air
to my tranquilized thoughts
of just such a gentle morning
from another time
embracing your memory
i taste a tear
it’s September again, mommy

sorry for your loss too, linda.....we never forget. thanks for your review. Lydi**
Time heals, slowly mends the broken heart; and your memories are beautiful thoughts that translate perfectly to this lovely poem. How lucky your poetic heart can capture this.
I am lucky still to have both my father and mother, but I still remember so well when my beloved grandma, (nanny goggles we called her,) passed away; it was 21 years ago now, I was sixteen, my sister 18, and we were both heartbroken.
Beccy.

dear Lydi... only an artistic Mother's child
can unbutton the still dreamy air of
another time. There are times when I
feel my Mother's presence and it brings
me comfort. Your poetry is kissed with memories,
and a tear seals your poem with sweet Gerber
flowers dancing in three quarter time . truly
a masterpiece of love and devotion.
as ever... Pat

On my good days I simply enjoy her waltz as her memories waltz upon my heart and thoughts.
I try to dance to her step instead of regret :-)
BIGGEST HUGS TO YOU !
ma'am, you have my eyes misting up this morning... This is so gentle, so touching, and so beautifully expressed.. the last two lines is what broke me... I have had my share of losses and can understand the place where this comes from... ((big hugs)) to you.. those memories are bittersweet... but wouldn't trade them for the world... such a powerful piece that caresses the heart and makes you electrified with such intense emotion at the same time... stunning!

It was such a pleasure.... I adore your writing, but this one has touched me more than you know..
I understand this poem. I lost my dear father in September 1996. September bring his smile and laughter back to me. Funny how small things can take us back to good days and places. Thank you for sharing your poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome. We need to remember the people who showed us how to live.
Autumn brings with it bitter memories.. the last lines just made a tear slip from my eyes. So you can imagine how you touched my soul... Missing someone whom we will never see again tears our heart apart. But the time spent together will always be etched in our memories. Curving our lips into a smile eben though a tear rolls down the cheek. Such effective poetry Lydi.. ★hugs★ takecare

Sophy, thank you for this compassionate review. It means a lot to me. Lydi**
Beautiful poem, Lydia! I really like the purpose you wrote it but the words and the way you use commonly used nouns and turn them into uncommonly used verbs. Wonderful!
