how much

how much

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

there is something very special about spending time with either of my granddaughters

"

                    today

                                     you skipped

across the tense span of my life

scattering the baggage i've been forced to carry

                to parts unknown

          it’s true

while the sun was high in the sky

the strangely familiar flavor of happiness

danced across my taste buds

like spring rain watering flowers

your smile nourished my soul

                    that’s why

i’ll always write you poems full of sweetness

even put some icing and sprinkles on the top

hoping someday you will understand

how much your oma loves you

You convey your love for your granddaughter/s in a way that is like putting the cherry on top of the sundae! I can see you adding the icing and sprinkles to this special day for the two of you! Ah, 'tis all is so memorable when memories are made as this! May you ever cherish times as this, but I need not remind you of it as I am sure you already have that place tucked within your heart just for oma's girls!!

Thank you, Julie...it was a special day for sure! Lydi**
Lydi, you know I share in that "laughter" and internal delight that only grandkids can bring to our "attitudes". And you express this so well in the delicacy of your words in this lovely poem; words such as "like spring rain watering flowers... " yes Lydi your poem does nourish us and allows us to grow and share in this attitude.... now here is a "nice" poem one in which I could hear the screams of a young childs delight... beautiful Lydi.... ~~redzone. And with sprinkles too !!!

dear Lydi... being a grandmother is a position requiring
ancient wisdom and yet knowing the latest trend.
A challenge for me to support my daughter's wishes...
and yet wearing my own personality like a Crown.
Lydi... a beautiful poem that is so full of love that
the birds of Spring will twitter its lines forever and a day.
truly.... Pat

Although I'm not a grandparent, I'm sure it's a special benefit to be one. The love you have for them is quite evident through your affectionate words. Nicely done Lydia.

Nourishing your spirit with the sweetness of innocent love and sprinkling your garden flowers with nourishing rain of child questions, icing your cake with understanding of oma's love towards them. A marvelous poem...:)..........
