memories
      invisible for so long
suddenly appear
with the touch
of an evil magician’s wand
         presto!

there they are again
   in all their glory
words burn my tongue
as i say them for the first time
in what seems like forever
               they do a dance
before making a swan dive
into the audible world
a sort of non-retaliatory depository
as it were
and it is then i realize
they belonged to not only me
i was not the only one
who cried myself to sleep remembering
                 and somehow
                              that makes all the difference

Yes, it's so important and it makes a difference when you share your pain to someone. It lessens your burden...having such feeling that someone helps you carry your loads. But it's not a one-sided thing. Somehow you wanted someone to treat you the same...that you could also be a shoulder to cry on. And it really makes a difference...and creates a strong connection.
This is great, Lydi. Thanks for the share.

Sometimes a memory can catch you unaware and you realize that it still hurts for whatever reason. It does help to talk and share your pain :)

You are welcome my friend :)
Sharing pain does help -- whether it is talking to a friend or writing a poem, knowing you aren't alone can be a great comfort. I'm so sorry for your loss Lydi. I'm wishing you butterflies and blue skies my friend.

dear Lydi... "They do a dance before
making a swan dive" is a butterfly kiss
of tender memories... when tulips
bloomed across my mind and a voice
rendered a song. Lovely poetry.

-that is so true Lydia, sharing pain really does help hey and at times you realise there is someone in the exact same situation and you are really not alone. and that's the beauty of writing as well because you always realise that you can connect with so many different people and touch lives. well written indeed :)

You know it....it's all about connecting with another human being! Thank you. Lydi**
Sharing your pain with another person, makes true friends, in times we need eachother, listening to another, or just be there for one. This writing, is just so clever, sometimes, we deny our pains, but it's wrong, we just need to share it with the right people we trust... to open your heart, is healing.
I loved the wordplay in the first few lines, amazing... thank you Lydi always you deliver gorgeous work.

Your poems NEVER disappoint. Like the emotional release at the end. Some phrasing I especially liked, "with the touch of an evil magician's wand," "before making a swan dive into the audible world," "a sort of non-retaliatory depository." Genius phrasing.

I so appreciate the praise you give me in your reviews. Thank you. Lydi**
sharing, talking listening, understanding each others pains, happiness, this kind of empathy, actually of friendship, keeps us human and also for many alive.. and in todays world of individualism, of looking at each other with suspect it is often difficult to keep our compassion for each other... a thoughtful and hopeful poem that I thoroughly enjoyed Lydi, ... I got your back, my Lydi friend!!!

I never doubted that for a second, Curt! :) Thank you so much for the great review. Lydi**
You're right, Lydi. Sharing your pain with someone who cares is a balm - keeping that pain locked inside is practically unbearable. Your deep feelings are so beautifully expressed in your poetry:

and it is then i realize
they belonged to not only me
i was not the only one
who cried myself to sleep remembering
and somehow
that makes all the difference

Very heart-felt and well written verse!
