Small Victory

Small Victory

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

Breathing in angst

till I’m puffed up by stress

like a helium balloon

even the Michelin man is more svelte

a tempest rents space in the teapot of my soul

no way to iron out the wrinkles in my psyche

waiting for the phone to ring

times movement is excruciatingly slow

        has the earth stopping rotating?

yet teardrops of morning dew

paint rainbows on the lawn

the beauty distracts me

ahhhhh

        breathing out

                small victory

There is nothing like being distracted by beauty....a rainbow of morning dew? oh yes! Enough to get by. This is simply gorgeous, my friend. Sometimes all we really need is that breath of fresh air...and everything's fine for a moment. Beautifully written, Lydi.

Nothing like a soothing moment to salvage the stressful moments...I felt this way this morning then travelled home and stared out at the atmospheric fog here...thank the stars for nature ey? x

Exactly, Poppy. Thanks for the review. Lydi**
Stressful things and events make us mad but because we are people who really appreciates something good in every single way...our emotions may change...and that's the small victory.

Another optimistic concept, Lydi. You're great!

You're welcome. =)
getting by in circumstances we can not control can be so hard, maybe seeing the smaller picture as you
portray in your poem, the small victories, the stepping stones that in the end lead to the bigger picture,
maybe thats the way to go
