i will dance

i will dance

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

we have to choose to be happy some days

"

the blue lady” by monique edwards

the day stirs me
asking me who i want to be
the girl infatuated with hope
     or the woman whose dreams
          have faded over time
headlines weep this morning
but i am thirsty for good news
and a strong cup of coffee
my mind migrates
to a cocoon of recollection
where the sun was always shining

and the silence between stars smiled down on me
this is who i will always be
so when the night comes to call
i will dance to its happy song

A lovely and striking piece Lydi. The mention of the two completely opposite versions of who you could be highlight really well the different versions of oneself and the conscious decisions of which aspect of yourself will be brought to the front - reflecting reality and the mind in a very simple but easy to understand way. Though the whole piece is great, there are two more key point I would personally say stands out (along with the point I've already made): "headlines weep this morning" is a simple line but says a lot, making subtle mention to the media and how they can make things depressing and put a sad and pitiful spin on the world - I'me very glad you added this as it fits in exceedingly well with the overall topic; and "my mind migrates to a cocoon of recollection" is another key aspect - especially with the lines following - as it broaches the ideas behind human nature, how we automatically think and dream of better times, where "the sun was always shining". A really great piece. I hope I've made my thoughts clear and that it expresses how good your poem is.

forcing oneself to see the sunshine is the harder but better choice. "stuff" can and will eat you alive if you let it. "Thirsty for good news and strong coffee." Like that much.

And thank you for this review. Lydi**
Hi Lydi, well I have an extra shovel and between us, we can bury all that "stuff", wash our hands of it and then, Ms Lydi, can I have this dance? We can dance until those stars not only smile down, but shout and join in the dancing... we can dance until they become supernovas of happiness!!! And when you are exhausted from all that dancing, I have made some coffee... (besides, Im getting married tomorrow and you are the Matron of Honor!!! You know Frieda will demand happiness. LOL) enjoyed this line: "a girl infatuated with hope", I know that is you Lydi... "nice" poem ~~redzone

LOL anytime, Jacob.
Oh yes!! There are times when it takes an extra amount of effort to find the sunshine and allow it to heal us but it is so worth the effort!! Your words indeed hold so much hope and a willingness to keep searching and be bathed in the healing power of "revival" and "survival"!
I love the write with your message of carrying on though it is so dang difficult at times!! The artwork is also exquisite - as always!!
