A Poem by Lydia Shutter

even as rain punishes the window pane

with fierce retribution

yearnings peek out over the horizon

        memories of midnight meetings

of a love never meant to be

creep into my consciousness

no, it would never work and truly it didn=t

and yet your voice

speaking my name

the way no one ever had before

                or ever will again

is all i hear tonight

even as the rain punishes the window pane

Once again , another piece of art and shining Gem. Insightful is the whole meaning of this craft and I greatly respect that! I sense individuality confusion and that they are trying to hear closely to the everlasting rain for a hint or even a sign ! Your writings are utterly marvelous, my dear!

This is a sad feeling and you have expressed it well, feeling of lost love and loneliness..very bad alone feeling that is. I like the imagery and generally like how you have penned it.

Thanks, Cassie! Have a great day. Lydi**
What is it about rain that brings back those memories - the memories that we push so far back - as if they were another lifetime... And yet when the rain falls, they appear...

Yes, I have been there before my friend - as the rain punishes the window pane

100/100 silky raindrops for you

I knew you would understand this one. Thank you once again, Julie. Lydi**
Sometimes when we listen to the rain, it can tell us so much, in between the ticking, it's like listening to a concert of music, of nature. You are such a true writer, and listener Lydi. And I felt all you have said in this piece deep to my own core. Another beautiful piece. I always enjoy your work very much.

I soooo felt this Lydi...really did...life seems so complex at times doesn't it? Hearts that feel so powerfully always seem to be punished by fate in some way...beautiful work love x

Thank you for this review, Madison! Lydi**
Like minds Lydikey, just wrote something quite similar, this is painfully poignant and elegantly pen'd. That dang rain. ;-)

Thank you, Frieda. Lydi**
rain beating on the window pane always brings me comfort and yet can be uncomfortable,
drawing us out to things that might have been yet never were, your poem punches that home
so well

Interesting poem with great imagery. I believe that the window represents a barrier that stands in everyone way throughout life. Great poem.

Thank you so much for your review. Lydi**
dear Lydi... We recall many melodies
in our mind... but the one against our
window pane has the sound of an
enchanting lullaby to rock our fears away.
Beautiful wistful memories. truly... Pat
