for you

for you

memories can be sparked when you least expect it

the air outside was cold

but in your arms it was warm

like the inside of a flannel shirt

the clouds made the winter sky pure white

you told me they tasted like vanilla ice cream

i said sparkling stars were the sprinkles

and i could almost taste them

together we twirled to life’s music

wrapping ourselves up

in the ecstasy of our personal galaxy

believing we would be there forever

but an explosion of years erupted

a paroxysm of sorts

last night i stared at the moon

felt the seductive swoosh of the humid breeze

through the palm fronds

vanilla ice cream clouds

moved lazily through the night sky

and you know what?

i can still taste them

this is for you....where ever you are

Oh my .. this poem is so beautiful! Truly beautiful. Tis real but loosely veiled Love somehow exposed in twenty one lines. Makes me want to smile, makes me want to cry, maybe both together. Lydi, the first day of a new year and your tender skills have really touched me. Thank you.

dear Lydi... the inside of a flannel shirt ...
the cozy look of a seagull no matter how cold....
these are the warm notes of a winter song.
To take refuge in your lovers arms...
with all the charms of a summer day and
Vanilla ice cream. Lovely romantic poetry.

I love vanilla ice cream the best...there is something so pure in the taste, so natural..

much like the love you describe here...it is soothing as it goes in and goes down to the heart.

This is possibly one of the most beautiful verses I have read at WC. You are brilliant my friend and have once again created a poem that just curls right up in my heart. A keeper for me!

;) always my pleasure, Julie.
"I can still taste those vanilla ice cream clouds..."
Now I know why you persisted to read my story, Lydi. This is just another representation of it. Somehow, even when the music has ended, the echo is still there in the heart and mind.
"this is for you....where ever you are"--- the yearning that even a whisper to the wind can bring that person what you feel...

This is touching, Lydi...just like how I was moved by my own piece when I wrote it. Excellent representation with such great metaphors.

Thanks for this sad but beautiful piece.

Yet another flowing piece of prose that is gently and seductively descriptive. Feels like a tribute to a parent from a child now grown.

You have a great way of deciphering my words, John. Thank you very much. Lydi**
Indeed such was the impression made back then, it still harbors those feelings of ecstasy at certain presents moments despite the passage of time!

An image intensifying piece of poetry with a most satisfying, ambrosial flavor throughout !
