Our Love

Our Love

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

"red kimono" by catherine abel

Oh moon and stars
I beseech you
open your samovar of sparkle
allow this night to lounge a while longer
permit my blonde tendrils
to tangle with the hair on his chest
for a few more moments
rosy cheeked and sanguine
I fervently plead
sanction our rendezvous
with your celestial light
that this night shall last
till 100 tomorrows have evanesced
for nothing is truly ours
but this moment
and our love

Reads like a timeless classic, Lydi! What a bittersweet pain it is...we cannot make glorious moments last but in memory. Everything about this write spells poetic elegance. "for nothing is truly ours
but this moment and our love"...one of the most memorable lines ever written in the history of poetry. Incredible, my friend.

Stunning. I love how you have made your plea as a prayer to the moon and stars. It lends itself to an understand that the heavenly bodies are those who grant us the gift of love. Very beautiful concept penned with grace.

Thank you very much, Quirklet! I appreciate your review. Lydi**
Lovely tribute to your enduring love again Lydi. Was thrown by the sparkle of the samovar though as I thought it a kettle Lol! But I guess they are ornate and often made of bright metals or ceramics.
