thousands
will watch in awe tuesday night
as a manmade ball glows its way excruciatingly slowly
to the bottom of the tower
voila, the new year will arrive right on schedule
but you will be off chasing the illusive rainbow
still certain the man of your dreams will jump out of it and hug you
believing that cinderella and the tooth fairy live in never never land
right next door to tinkerbelle
particles of dust never collect on your rose colored glasses
yet specks of joy seem to mix and mingle there
you’ve stored the weight of your world inside that glowing ball
and tuesday night it will crash and burn as you smile......
and sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I could be you.....
Sometimes i wish i could live like that too....in a dreamland never taking off those rose-coloured glasses. with the heart of a child ...chasing rainbows and dreams...and yet, we can't always live in denial, no? Dreams are so beautiful, reality is so harsh. The ultimate truth of life. This is just brilliantly written, Lydi.

I never would want to be that person, though elegantly written, I can understand the sentiment even as a man, or is that under estimating men, sometimes my head gets mixed up but maybe that is not all bad either, god I've gone off in a tangent, anyway love the poem

Are you telling me the man of my dreams won't jump out of a rainbow?....I've been chasing rainbows for nothing???? damn it! That Toothfairy probably scared him away..
As always Lydi, you amaze me with your creativity. I never get tired of reading "you".
Happy New Year my friend!

I can see here two stories: One is the fairy tale-love story of the two persons and the other one, the story of the one who can see it all. The voice knows what's happening to the two, and somehow there's an envy to the one of who's brave enough to have such fantasy and there's a wish that he/she might be like that one.
Nice presentation here, Lydi.
Best wishes for you this New year!

There's a sadness, a wisp of longing in this write, almost as if there is a wish for yesteryear to be the present. Perhaps I'm wrong but then, with the beauty of your mind and pen you can only be you, romantically practical.

I was thinking about a good friend of mine....one who will always see the world as a rosy colored fairyland no matter what happens. She sees New Year's Eve as a new beginning....a clean slate....and her attitude is one I have never quite been able to borrow. Thank you for your review, Ron. Happy New year. Lydi**
